Aaaaaaand, we've got a price!  Looks like 11,295 Euros (recommended German price).

Also, 260V motor w/ 2.6kWh battery and 10amp charging with 13 amp "quick charging".

Well it took them long enough..... ::)  I wonder if the Freeride is going to be sold in the U.S.?  Right now it would seem to have little competition, as I believe the Zero MX bit the dust and the Brammo dirt-bike never seemed to make it out of the shed.

Maybe Tacita is the competition. But their bikes are at least twice the price of a KTM...

The 690 ABS Duke is priced at 7.895,00 euros in Germany, and $8999 in the US.
Scaling that up, the 11,295 euros E-XC should be priced at $12874 US, if and when it makes it for sale here.

Considering the Zero FX is the only real competition, and the ZF2.8 bike is priced at $9500, I don't think we'll see too many street sales. But perhaps KTM can sell more race versions.

Exciting to see production motorcycles from traditional manufacturers, even if it's still a small bike..

i think  the power Train of a Zero FX can easy beat the KTM . (I ride both bikes) but the Frame of the FX is a Little bit weakly ;)

Here is a new Freeride E riding video.  Nothing technical, just riding around on a dirt track:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-AzDZt1IcM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-AzDZt1IcM)

The absolute most important part of the entire video happens at 3:30.  (linked below)

I thought KTM was taking all this time because they were working on a larger capacity battery.  The bike looks pretty much the same.  Zero started out with small capacity also, but then moved up.  Could KTM be focused on track riders, or maybe their riding areas are smaller loops where one could swing by their truck and swap a battery.  Perhaps the backyard rider who will only ride long enough for 1 charge.   An extra battery is very costly.  We have some nice mountain trails and riding in silence would be so nice up there.  However, it would require a minimum of 50 miles or I would be pushing the bike back.  At about 210 pounds, the KTM is light which is really nice.  The FX is looking pretty heavy for 2015.  To carry 2 battery packs, it opens up riding I just could not do on the KTM.  I think a lot of people will have trouble with the small range of the KTM.   It looks like it will be a really fun bike, while the power lasts that is.  Compared to typical KTM, I like the shorter seat heights of the FreeRide.  They got something really important done right anyway.

More 2015 Freeride information.  Note the 300V battery system:

The specs just don't stack up against the FX.  But it has the chassis and the KTM badge so will certainly do better than the Zero.

From those links, I just noticed it has 2 radiators in about same position as standard.  The engine looks like it has a water pump on it.  The motor is contained in a pretty big unit with a lot of surface area, but no big fins like on the Zero.  Too bad these electric engines waste so much energy by producing heat.  It appears to force more weight and complexity by requiring a cooling system.  I would sure like to test ride it.

Electric motors don't waste much energy, they are about 90% efficient.  However, heat can become an issue.  Various companies are taking different approaches to the heat produced when throttling it.  Otherwise heat is a non-issue.

I saw the KTM and was really disappointed the bike is really small I have expected a normal size MX, but think it is smaller as my FX.

Actually, that smaller size is something that I find appealing.  I thought the KTM seat height listed as higher than the FX though.  I like the smaller bikes better.  Without going into deep thought as to why, I just have more fun on them.  Something I noticed as I owned various different bikes of different sizes over time.

Tested KTM Freeride E-XC and its quite intresting machine. Just would hope bigger battery to get more range.

Took some GoPro video:
