Post by: Lecram on May 08, 2016, 12:10:18 AM
What oil do I need for the Showa front fork and how much?
I have been able to stop the leakage.

A recent thread here mentioned using Showa SS-8 fluid to a height of 117mm from the tube top.

What was the problem? How did you stop it? I recall your other thread - was it just a dirty seal?

Thanks!
It is impossible to measure the height from the top, so I kept 420 ml It works fine

I have been able to stop the leakage.

I made a kind of seal mate from a food box (see picture). That worked fine, so no more leakage.

Refill is easy. I loosened the cap on the top of the fork leg a bit with a 24mm wrench. Then, I removed the leg en loosened the cap completely. The leg cover slides downwards and you can pour the oil in a measuring cup. After pouring some additional oil to get the 420ml again, you can pour the oil carefully back in the leg.
