Nah, France alone was responsible for 211 registrations, Germany did about 150 and the Netherlands did 84. I don't have the numbers for Norway but they are a rich EV powerhouse and then we even't have started with the US and Canada yet. 2000 seems pretty doable to me.

The vehicle to vehicle communication system sounds interesting. It would be nice to know prematurely that there is a first responder coming up behind you or that there is a traffic jam coming up around the next corner. And of course for the cars that are stuck in said jam to know that there is a filtering motorcycle coming up.

I refuse to believe that Zero has sold only 750 bikes in 2018.

That does mean you will have to get an A-license...

That is quite a large transformer box powering the two charging stations.   :o
It's close to a MW.

What's the KTM's battery voltage?

7
Yes however I can only find adapters that are made of 2 plugs with some wire between them. I wouldn't be surprised if it is floating around somewhere on ali but I just cannot find it.

8
So the Charge Tank in Europe currently still has a J-plug input while Mennekes is the standard here. No problem with 99% of the chargers that require to use your own cable anyway but quick chargers have the Mennekes lead already on the charger.

There are L2-L1 adapters:

But they are a bit bulky as you can see. I found this adapter

Which has the perfect form factor but as you can see is the wrong way around. Has anybody ever spotted a compact L2-L1 adapter like above?

Afaik the whole load-balancing power delivery uses the same PWM signalling as J1772.

This is my first time doing an indiegogo, I have a LOT to learn about it. None of us here really knew how to best build the campaign there. Thank you for telling me about this as it makes a lot of sense!

Yes It can be hard to do al the stupid marketing stuff when you just want to make cool products. Morgan's mailbox must be exploding with dubious offers from companies that would love to help to promote your campaign(for a hefty fee).

If you ever have half an hour to spare you should watch this:
It's a bit sarcastic and over the top but also a pretty funny dig in the whole robot+indigogo thing.

Ah that way. I'm asking because normally flexible goal+electronic product+indigogo raises red flags with a lot of people, there have been a lot of scam campaigns that claimed fantastic products without intent to ever deliver and just piss the money away.

Apart from some Chademo/Mennekes stations that I saw once in rural France installed by the Renault/Nissan groupe literality every fast charging station I've ever seen has both CCS and Chademo. They are the standard.

« on: December 17, 2018, 05:11:03 AM »
I have a couple Elcon 2500s that I put in an old Givi E45 topbox.

Unfortunately, the Y-connector is now about 6" too short to reach the socket behind the motor.

Is there anywhere I can get an extension with the necessary Andersen plugs and CANBUS wiring?

I considered just using another Y-connector but then I'd have a live empty plug waving around when I'm charging...

Doe anyone sell anything like this?

Thanks...
Do you have a camping/boat shop nearby? They can whip one up in 5 minutes. You could even make it a bit longer so you can leave it in permanently so you don't have to do the ol' reach around everytime you want to charge.

450.000 watts at 100 volts = 4500 amperes
This is huge. You need a cable with 17 cm radius (unless you have special materials / cooling) using the 1000 km/sqinch rule...
That's why EV's apart from exceptions don't operate at 100V.

I still feel they fall short of what will be the endgame speed of charging needed to kill gas.

Oh, I agree, no question about it. But Tesla does have a good jump on everybody else.

The UK has mandated all gas stations must have charging stations in the next few years which is a perfect transition idea in my opinion.

But whose standard? What protocol? I was ticked off recently when I tried to buy a car charger for my Samsung S9+ phone that would keep up with the discharge caused by my dash cam, Google maps and Torque app while I drive. There are so many standards out there, and it's hard to figure out who uses which -- to this day, I don't know what's the name of the  "standard" my phone uses. On the third try, I finally did find a charger that's actually capable of fast charging my phone.

Of course that happens all the time in industry, when companies try to distinguish their product from other companies'. Remember the VHS/Beta fight? Blu-Ray versus HD DVD? Situations like that cause everybody to lose. By contrast, WiFi has never had that problem. All manufacturers adhere to the same standard, and newer equipment is always backwards compatible with older equipment.

Whenever you have two (or more) protocols in the same market space, it's really NONstandardization.
Chademo and CCS, you don't need anything else on those fast chargers although they often include a Mennekes because why not. The AC-DC or DC-DC conversion is made by the same converter and the only major difference is the plug that you put in your car.

I really want to thank everyone for their awesome support! This is going well so far. I would like to ask if there are any changes you guys see I should make, or any extra perks you would like to see? And also please share with everyone, even just the sticker sales help us so much!

Best!!

Just curious, why did you opt for the flexible goal?
