Hats off to Zero and Streetbike for managing to have a stand at the NEC this year. It's all a bit last minute due to the dealership arrangements. I don't think the fact that there has been an exhibition in Paris at the same time has helped much either. All things considered, it's a great achievement!
Here's a picture of Erik (Head of Sales in Europe for Zero) and Charlie (Bike Sales, Streetbike) at the stand:

I made it up there on Wednesday and despite it being mid-week, there were plenty of people around. I had a really nice chat to Fred, a BMW i3 owner from Aberdeen. He's also a biker and I imagine he'll be joining us on the forum soon. Fred was telling me how transformative rapid DC charging has been with his car. It echoes many of the comments made here and we talked a bit about the Diginow super charger. I hope you get to read this topic Fred and say hi to everyone.

There was a report on the news yesterday that Porsche has announced the intention to build and market an all electric sports car that they claim will be faster accelerating than a Tesla. They also claim that it will recharge from empty to 80% in only 15 minutes. :o No other details were provided.

From what I've read Tesla acceleration is better but who knows what the numbers for both will be by the time the Porsche is actually available for purchase.
But 800 volt charger....holy smokes!

That certainly is an impressive car. 800 volts ought to get your attention if you get too close to the wrong wire. :o I won't even try to guess what the production version might cost. ::) It sure looks nice, though. :)

This topic got well and truly hijacked!
Justin manned the stand on the Sunday, the last day of the show. How did it go Justin?
While I was hanging out on the stand one visitor managed to set the siren going on the DSP. I think the entire hall heard it!

800 Volts and wireless charging. Well, i dont't want to be near. Porsche is talking crap. Just like Audi is doing all the time. After all they are owned by the same walking-behind company. (One that's having some dieselissue's right now)
And, i would be pleased to see how that Porsche owner will charge at home. 800 volts. Yeah right.
Is Porsche rolling out A fastcharger network like Tesla? Nope. It's just this announcement by Porsche, that makes us very clear how many lightyears ahead Tesla is.

I give up... What did I do wrong? Yes, the Porsche looks nice. I'm more interested in Tesla's model 3 due around 2017. I'm hoping I'll be able to afford one. Maybe second hand in 2020...

Haha, yep, I guess so. I tried to steer the discussion back to the original post and the very next post just carried on about that bloody Porsche! So I thought, if you can't beat them, join them! [emoji15]
