So Sam called me out on a couple of things I messed up on. Thank you Sam!
So I got another Strike to ride, and this time properly filmed the 0-60 and top speed.
Have a looksee and I would love to see others with even home brews compare their 0-60 times and top speed to that of the $20k Lightning Strike Carbon Edition.

And I was expecting a rave review. Looks like Lightning is the vaporware king for several reasons.

Nice vid! But man.. there is alot going on there. I want to think Richard got in way over his head on how to actually manufacture these bikes in decent numbers, and this is his attempt at desperately getting something out to the people who put down deposits last year. He's got a bike to market, and that's a pretty difficult feat. I hope they come through and put polish on it to make it something usable. Still, its too unsafe - imagine riding that in a northern state with fresh snowmelt or rain on salted roads! I kinda wonder if he actually had a functioning prototype that match the claims he made early last year.

Are you certain thats the controller? Because that is a really bulky model.

Wow they managed to stuff it in there.
Is the diagnostic port exposed? Its generally a 4 pin (2x2) molex - but a different connector could be used.

On a side note, are those just labels from a label printer that are on the connections?
And is that Gorilla Tape holding the battery together?

Tape is a pretty standard vibration reduction material. You'll find it inside your laptop and probably inside the Zero monoliths, too.

Don't know/didn't see it. When we're able to have visitors in our workshop the owner has expressed permission to come out so we can do a full inspection and teardown.

Yes and yes. Totally unsafe.

Cant tell from that photo. The loose wires look like they go to the contactor, maybe up to the keyswitch also.
Pretty silly to me if they didnt add the diagnostic port (and programming port ;D).

Serial port (programing) uses pins 25 (12+), 28 (Tx), 29 (Rx), 7 (gnd) of the large 35 pin connector. Should have some wires exiting those pins that you could trace to a connector or other interface?
Looks like Curtis has a standalone programing device but there is probably another way...?
