I test drove a SR/F Premium (2019) a few days ago and noticed quite a bit of moisture in the display.
Is this a known issue?
Is this dangerous?
Will Zero usually replace this via warranty?
Anything else I should look out for before actually buying the bike?
Update: The dealer told me that he requested a warranty replacement from Zero.
-
I had that problem with the SR/S I purchased last September. Zero replaced the display inder warranty.
-
I have some moisture forming underneath it. Didn't take action just yet. I did read from others reporting it was replaced under warranty.
-
I have the same issue, but not very frequent. Dealer said there isn’t a resolution for it yet and if bad enough Zero will replace the display. I take from that the replaced displays could exhibit the same water Ingres issue. Mine is a 2019 also so I’m hoping having it on record with the dealer could mean I get a replacement after my warranty expires and zero find a resolution.
-
Indeed it was also my understanding that they will replace it but that the replacement unit is the same so it will likely return sooner or later.
-
I wonder if popping it open and leaving a little bag of silica in there might solve it.

On the specsheet of the dash supplier you can read it has a goretex membrane, i suppose that is to let the module hace the same atmospheric pressure as it surroundings while still havine a watertight seal? Just like the membrane in the new iphones where the headphone jack was. Maybe there is a problem with that membrane?

Mine gets a bit of moisture in it all the time.
Thankfully it only seems to be in the top right corner for me so it doesn't blur any info.
Moisture inside something that houses electronic equipment is never ideal though - I'm going to mention it to my dealer on the next service/visit.

Got moisture in my almost-new SRF display too. It seems to appear overnight, and if I take it for a ride it seems to evaporate, to come back shortly after I stop. It's not bothering me ... yet.

I have the same problem with my new sr/f, the dealer replaced it and the new one also have the same thing, the dealer told me that zero know about the problem and going to replace the dash with completely new item in the near future so i should wait until then, just have to see how near the future is...
also have an issue in the same dash with the auto light sensor, comes and goes without realy depending on the serrounding light, anyone noticed this in his sr/f sr/s ?

Problem is: If the warranty runs out, your might be out of luck.
At least in Germany we have the rule that a repaired issue is extending the warranty for that part. Meaning, if I get the dash replaced 1 week before the warranty is over, I get another year of warranty on the dash.
So, it could make sense to get it replaced, even if the real fix is still due.

I think there are statutory consumer rights on all goods that they should work for some "reasonable" expected lifetime in Europe. Though these rules only apply to consumer purchases, not business.

Moisture in instrument displays is nothing new. That was a thing with BMW K-bikes back in the 1990's as I recall. It took BMW a few years to figure out how to fix the problem. But fix it they eventually did. Other manufacturers, like Royal Enfield and KTM, have been having the same issue. By now you would think that moisture that comes and goes in an LCD or TFT display should be something that instrument manufactures need to anticipate and develop a solution for before the instruments are placed into production and sold to manufacturers and consumers.
-
Anticipate, sure, but you can't be completely certain of a manufacture run until you sit them in the cold and wet and hot and cold over time and figure our what went wrong. Every time you change the display slightly, how it absorbs and breathes changes, every manufacture run the workers might apply the adhesives slight different... there's no way to be 100% sure within the cost parameters. And so it happens off and on.
On the point of warranties, in most countries the date of the complaint is the action point, not the date of the repair. So a warranty can't 'run out' while you're waiting for a repair.

I'm French so excuse my english.
I had the same problem of moisture. My dealer changed my display for the 3rd time. The first time the display didn't work, the 2nd and 3rd time the auto light sensor have an issue, my display is still in "night mode". Does anyone knows if there is a calibration for this auto light sensor ?
Thank you

I think there's a setting in the menus somewhere that can fix it to one or the other - best check that first.

I have also noticed some moisture forming underneath it, in both the right and left sides. First time in a year and, in my case, after 19'000 km. It seemed to go almost totally away after a couple of hours riding. I could associate it with driving in below 10° temperatures, but I cannot tell for sure.
-
Same here, my dealer told me you can take a picture of it when it happens and they can open a case. That way, if there is a fix you'll be notified for a replacement.
-
Just gotten the information from my dealer that a new display unit will be available in a few months.
So, I will probably delay the replacement of the unit with the moisture issues until the new unit is available instead of getting the very same unit and have problems with it as well in a few months.
