Title: SR/S Firmware update over cell
Post by: pargil on May 06, 2021, 03:56:39 AM
I am aware that the firmware can be updated either from the bike internal Cell module or through the phone app by bluetooth.  Since I own the bike (3 months), I have this message on the bike display after key ON " "Firmware update available. Update Now or Postpone". No firmware update message in the phone app (Zero Next Gen). Phone app is paired with the bike. I have tried many times in different locations to make sure I have a strong cell signal to update the firmware and it fails after +- 5 min.  with the error code #8 (firmware update failure, please try again).
I have never been able to update from the phone app. Bike is on Ver. 17 (BMS,MBB).  Bike runs great with no issues. I know, "if it ainT broken, don't fix it", but I would like to get rid of this annoying message after key On for updating. I know that ver.19 is now released.
Thanks for your input.

Are you able to consistently "Remote Connect" and see your current SOC?

If so, you might want to stay on v17.

You're not alone.  I've had the same problem since the day I purchased my 2020 SR/S.  Over-the-air updates indicated on the bike's dash usually work (I've has some failures), but when using the Firmware Updates page of the app I get a continuous "Looking for updates" message with a spinning circle.  This will go on for as long as I care to let it.  Zero Customer Support has repeatedly told me that the next app release will fix this, but after several subsequent releases the problem still exists.

Yes I do consistently remote connect and can get the SOC.

Yes I do consistently remote connect and can get the SOC.

You're very lucky to have that working.

My bike updated (from v18 to v19), via "Performance/Manage Firmware" in the app.
Unfortunately, my "Remote Connect" isn't in the greatest of shape.
You may have read, on this forum, that v18 & v19 risk breaking "Remote Connect".
