Title: New Zero (sort of, Cub Cadet that is)
Post by: stevenh on July 30, 2017, 12:19:05 AM
I picked up a new Zero today, a new Cub Cadet RZT-S Zero Electric.  It's an electric zero turn riding mower.  Works well.  48V system with glass matt lead acid batteries.  Not cutting edge, they have been making them since 2013.  I already like it much better than my old John Deere D105.  The Zero turn cut down my cutting time by at least a third.  Nice and quiet and a really good cut.

Any one else have one?

291 miles on the odometer. Serial Number "...003"

Not a day in the shop, not a drop of oil.
Sharpened the blades about 4 times.
Couple temporary motor faults that clear with a restart.

I mow and then cross cut at top speed until the blades cut out because even a turbo blade settings it doesn't lift the grass the tires lay down.

Then to stay on forum - I hop on the Zero S and blow on the grass clippings off  my pants.

Just joined the CC forum!  Thanks for the pointer.  I have not seen my battery meter drop below 100% yet from what I can see.  I was thinking perhaps it was not working correctly (still thinking that).  My lawn only takes 20 minutes so perhaps I just did not try hard enough.  I have a couple of additional questions.  I'll ask on the CC forum.

Cheers

Amazing! Can you mulch or bag leaves? I'm planning to convert a gas Craftsman LT1000 to E.

You can mulch (with a kit, blades + cover), but there is no bagger kit.  I've mowed twice now and really like the mower (great cut and fast).  It also pulls my lawn sweeper really well.  The only complaint I have is the charger.  It's pretty in-efficient and gets VERY hot while charging.  I hate to waste electricity heating my garage in the summer time!  I'll be looking for something more efficient.

Do they have Lithium batteries or are they still rocking lead-acid?
