Title: Tesla model 3
Post by: benswing on April 01, 2016, 09:32:03 AM
Did anybody else reserve a Tesla model 3?

I went to a store and reserved my net noon on the East Coast.

Title: Alta Redshift EX - my experience
Post by: odedmaz on February 17, 2018, 04:02:47 PM
Have the EX for a week now, after owning the Zero FX for the past 2.5 years (off road only).

First impressions are all positive. The Alta is a high end quality machine, right down to the bolts & plastics. Really impressed with the machine. If I have to think of something to improve, its the lights. Was expecting leds in this high end machine.

Riding it is very smooth. Sitting position is high (especially compared to the FX). I love it (I'm tall). For shorter riders, it can be a bit problematic.

I mostly use map 2 which is plenty for enduro type riding. It has more power than the FX at that power level, and the Zero os not weak by all means. Pegs position and handlebar are right where I want them, no adjustments needed.
Replaced the stock tires with the Pirelli MT43 which are my favorites (trial tires characteristics).

I ride mostly rocky type terrain (enduro) and the bike is amazing. The suspension swallows everything with ease. Places where I had to recalculate my line, I can just pop over now.
One hour and 15 minutes of mostly technical ride, resulted in 70% battery capacity left.
Only thing missing is a left hand brake, but it is in the works to my understanding.

Almost crashed into a cow that did not hear me coming, but managed to avoid it (thanks Brembo [emoji846]).

I will publish a more comprehensive review when I get more ride time, and will compare the Redshift to the FX (dual sport machine).

Love this bike so far! Very pleased with the support I get from Alta (in this forum). Zero was lacking in that department. Extremely important for me as a customer.

Title: 12V port?
Post by: odedmaz on April 07, 2018, 02:13:20 PM
Is there a simple way to add a 12V port for accessories in the Redshift EX?

The Zero FX had one. Wonder about the Redshift.

Title: Angel GT
Post by: Neuer_User on May 26, 2018, 12:44:16 PM
Anyone using Angel GTs on his Zero? They are apparently only available in bigger sizes (120 and 150 instead of 110 and 140), but I've heard that they would still fit.

The reviews on the tires are generally very good, so does anyone use them? What are your experiences with this setup?

Title: Firmware problems, seeking a resolution. #firmwaregate
Post by: ElectricZen on June 13, 2018, 03:06:06 AM
Hi everyone!  It was suggested to me to make a post and thread regarding firmware issues where we can hopefully amass information and experiences to find a permanent resolution.

My experiences are as follows:

November 2016 - firmware updated at Hollywood Electrics, LA. No issues

May/June 2017 - recieved letter from Zero corporate suggesting that a firmware update should be considered part of regular maintenance.

August 2017 - firmware updated at Dayton Motorsports, Vancouver.  Soc and range estimates become unreliable.

June 8, 2018 - firmware update at Daytona Motorsports, Vancouver.  Odometer stops counting.  Minor improvements noticed but it looks like underlying issues are still present.

I have not noticed any operational problems.  I am told from the logs there are no errors in the battery or any codes generated.

I am also told that Zero cannot roll back to previous versions by tech.  I wonder how they will problem solve this ODO problem without being able roll back.vOv

So some of the INFO that matters:

These problems are observed in BMS firmware REV 39+ for 2014-2016
                                                                                                               REV 17+ for 2017-2018

I could have reworded this more accurately as , the last stable BMS firmware observed are REV 38 for 2014-2016 and REV 16 for 2017-2018

MBB is unaffected or irrelevant.   SOURCE: DIGINOW

Primarily posted to provide information for the community.

Input, experiences, tips or corrections welcome!

Current resolution for myself would be a BMS firmware rollback to REV 38.  *I hope*[emoji16]. It is possible ODO is not firmware related... Taking the bike to the dealer in an hour.  Will update as more information becomes available.

Title: Firmware problems, seeking a resolution. #firmwaregate
Post by: ElectricZen on June 13, 2018, 03:07:15 AM

Title: Riding with small kids

Hello,

Does anyone has modified their zero to accommodate small children?
In California the only requirement is that they are able to touch the rear foot pegs.
Does anyone has moved their foot peg in a S platform?

Thanks,
Giacomo

Hello,

Does anyone has modified the read foot peg to allow kids to ride on the back? I am looking for some idea because my kid doesn't reach the footpeg yet.
I was thinking to buy a rack from happy trail and attach some footpeg on it...
Maybe someone found a better cheaper solution.

Thanks
Giacomo
