One in San Mateo, one in literally my backyard of Monterey. Both appear to be the white Carbon editions but with "temporary smaller battery packs" and 3.3kW of onboard AC charging only. All appear to have CycleAnalysts and the AIM dashes which don't show battery information or currently offer rider modes. I have reached out to both owners who are excited and happy. If I'm able to meet up with the Monterey guy I might get an in-person look and be able to get more information.

Well, the Lightning web site does say the Carbon Strike comes with every available option so if CCS charging and 6kw charging aren't available at the time the bike is built it seems you don't get them. All depends on what is available and what isn't. So maybe the 20kw battery is available and maybe it isn't.

Very interesting...
If you do get to talk to the owner(s), I'd also be curious to hear (if they're cooperative) whether other than the chargers & battery packs, these bikes have all the premium components (Öhlins, Brembos, carbon fiber bits etc.) and (delicate question) whether they paid full price for the bikes despite not getting what the specs promised.

I'm gonna see if we can go on a ride down to Big Sur. Made a friend with an SR//F owner passing through the area so I figured it would be fun to pop down there on a collection of Energicas, Zeroes, and if possible the Strike.

Excellent. It would be awesome if all participants could start at 100% and ride together and then recharge back to 100 at the end and compare energy used.

You could give it a name, call it a "Vetter Comparison", something like that. : - )

I'm not gonna wait around 3 hours for him to charge. He says it only has a 3.3kW onboard. Also the minimum voltage is unknown. The owner said Richard told him, "not to let it go below 100 volts".

Shouldn't a BMS accomplish that and not the rider? ???

One would think.

No, no, no, you don't get it.
It's the newest thing, only available on Lightnings: A biological-based, self-replicating(*) wetware BMS with fuzzy logic ;D
(*)May require a cooperating wetware unit, not included with bike.

Found the local guy with the Strike. Made friends with him. More info to come after we gather our thoughts.

^^ Very nice multi-brand electric bike pic :) The blue bike is an SS9, right?

Looks like a blue SS9, white Strike, red Ego, and blue SR/F. Nice mix. If a Livewire had been there one could be forgiven for thinking some kind of shootout was in progress.

Yes, that is my SS9. Not shown was our very own DeathFX off to the right side using the other Tesla Destination station. This dad and his adorable little blond boy came up to look at the bikes. The kid was like, "Daddy can I get my ipad to take pictures?"
"Go for it, sport" and the kid ran off and came back with a big grin. The dad told us his son is obsessed with photographing things. We asked the boy what his favorite bike was and he got all shy and hid behind his dad, then whispered something in his ear.
"He likes the red one (Ego) and the blue one (SS9)" dad told us.
"The Italian bikes!" I said, "kid has good taste."
"Makes sense," dad grinned, "his mom is Italian. I like the white one (Strike)"

Haven't found a local LiveWire owner yet, but we're working on it. What an absolutely nice day for this impromptu gathering.
