Title: Zero S Tyre choice
Post by: UK S Rider on February 27, 2020, 12:42:52 AM
Hi there, this is my first post, I’m enjoying my Zero S tremendously but I’ve come to the end of the life my current tires which are the Pirelli Diablo corsa 2.

They feel quite good but lack edge grip I feel. Can anybody recommend another tire to fit the Zero S? On my old bike I had a pair of Pirelli angel ST and they were great fun,  but I think because they were on a different profile they felt much better.

I’m interested probably the same as everybody else and wanting good grip and good mileage out of the new pair so if you have any recommendations please let me know.

My 2016 S came equipped with the Pirelli Sport Demon tires.  I never had an issue with grip and I was just getting ready to replace them at 16,000 miles when an inattentive jackass in an Audi totaled the bike.

The Diablo Corsas that came on my 2018 S barely lasted 9,000 miles.  I'm trying a set of Dunlop GPR300s right now and I'm very happy with the way the bike handles with them.  Time will tell how long they'll last (they only have 2,000 miles on them so far).  If they don't last at least 10,000 miles I'll go back to the Sport Demons.

These are really good.

If you’re going for longest life you may want something different. I’m only concerned about traction!

OMG 16000 miles! I’ve only got 4300 out of the front. Admittedly I do brake and ride hard, I can’t help it, it’s such a hoot round town. Do you ride in sport mode or eco?

USUALLY my custom mode, which is 100% torque, 100% regen and 100% braking regen.  When I'm on the back roads I seldom touch my brakes at all, just use the motor regen to slow.  On the highway I use "ECO" as a "Poor Man's Cruise Control."  I go into a full tuck and just hold the "throttle" open to cruise along at 70mph.  Even though the posted speed limit where I live is only 55mph, the police don't bother you unless you're going over 70, so...

Once I'm off the highway I pop right back into Custom mode.  I don't use "Sport" at all.

I only got 6K miles from the original Red Devil II front tire.  The rear one looks like it might go 10K  ???  I have no idea why the front tire wore out so soon on my 2018 S with PT.  I keep both tires inflated to 34 psi and use my bike mostly for suburban riding, with no hard braking or cornering.
