Title: SR/F: Pairing issues on Android 10 - zero next gen
Post by: azymuth on March 01, 2020, 09:30:43 PM
Hi,

I have big problems about pairing my SR/F with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ on Android 10 via the "zero next gen" app !
I managed to pair it once or twice but for a long time (since android 10 ?), impossible to pair it again. The app displays "start over". (I follow the procedure exactly)
However, I can see the bike in the bluetooth settings of my phone.

Am I the only one in this situation ?
Thank you for your feedback.

Well, apparently, I'm the only one with this problem  :(
I deduce that this is not the app's incompatibility with Android 10.

I'm going to test with several phones with different OS to see if it is not my SR/F that is the problem.
This does not captivating people but I will still give the result here if one day someone had the same concern  ;)

I had some issues pairing with my Note 9 with Android 10.  I eventually seemed to solve it by uninstalling app, removing the zero from the bluetooth settings and then reinstalling app and repairing.   It seems to be pretty solid for bike status now.  I do still have an issue with the app with trying to upgrade the firmware over bluetooth.  I had to use my iphone to do that.

Yes Crissa, it's really annoying not to be able to use this app !

Thank you for your reply GaryArt1. I have tried over and over again to uninstall this damn app and start all over again, with no results yet  >:(

I managed, very easily, to pair my old Galaxy note 4 phone on LineageOS 16 (Android 9) to my SRF. So the problem is not my bike.
Unfortunately, bluetooth disconnects / reconnects all the time ?!

I am very disappointed with Zero Motorcycles, their android app is simply not working  >:(

Well, I'm stuck back in Android 7 with a six year old bike and am glad it works at all.

Do you use App Next Gen to pairing or you use directly the phone via BlueTooth setting?

When I tried to pairing with App Next Gen, it do not find the bike. It do  not try to pair it. I tink you need to pairing befor execute App Next Gen right?

No need to pair via Bluetooth settings! The app is supposed to find and display the bike.
For me, I ended up successfully pairing my tel (Android 10) to the bike. After dozens of uninstalls / reinstalls  >:(
You must insist, until it works !
I can't say why it didn't work and why it works now !??

Do you updated android on your phone recently? I have also a Samsung Galaxy S10e and I have the same problem since I updated the OS. Before the update it worked fine. I guess the new android version has an incompatibility issue with the Zero Next Gen App. I mailed Zero support with the problem two weeks ago and I have no answer from them.

I will try to insist installing and uninstalling the app as you say, in the meantime I'm using another phone because I don't understand why it is not possible to enable/disable the schedule charging for example from the bike menu, you need mandatorily the app.

Yes, I did get an Android update very recently: Version One UI 2.1 (Note 10+ Android 10)

And that had no impact on the "Zero Next Gen" app. For now, my phone connects to the bike without worry.
But I don't know if it will last ...

I have that same version (android 10, UI2.1) and it stopped working after the last update, older versions worked fine.
In any case, the bike or the app is made to work with IOS. I tried to connect it with several android phones, different brands and different android versions, and it's a lottery. Some models just work and others don't.

Android implementation is spotty per hardware maker, so it's really tough to develop for.  Your Bluetooth version also matters.

I'm asking myself exactly the same question.

I also had problems with my galaxy s9 for a long time. However, since a few weeks the connection works flawlessly.
Nonetheless: If problems started again, and if I had activated the scheduled charging time for use at home but am on a trip and need out of the scheduled time  - I'd have to wait until evening. Just an impossible situation ...

So I decided to always deactivate the scheduled charging and only activate it when I'm at home and need it in the next vew hours ...

Meanwhile I found an important factor necessary for the proper function of the app in my Samsung Galaxy S9:

In the settings of Android "Location" has to be "On".

Otherwise the app will not connect with the bike.

Wow!!! Thank you so much!! It worked on my S10e too. I had tried everything, even a soft reset but there was no way to connect the bike since I updated to Android 10. I have never thought of trying that silly thing, you saved me. Thanks a lot! :)

@xawen
I'm happy I could help.

Meanwhile even the notification of the app works, if the bike has finished charging ...

I'm not sure if this also has a connection with the 'location-setting' in Android.
