Title: Zero Soft Sadlebags
Post by: NervEasy on April 03, 2020, 12:51:10 AM
Hi,
I'm thinking of buying these:

My dealer sells these for €172 ($186).

Does anyone has experience with these (how do they attach???) or a picture of a bike with them mounted? I cannot find a picture with them on a bike anywhere on the net...

I've never seen them and would love to hear how they fare.

I'm about to buy some soft saddlebags for my FXS and looked hard at those.  They aren't big enough for my needs though.  Revzilla has several options available.

Which Zero do you have?  Because of the FXS back end, I have to be careful something doesn't hang too low and hit the tires.  Right now my choice du jour are these, but I'm still researching.

I've got these with my SR/F, but have not found a way yet (no instructions included with my set) to secure them to my liking (probably my fault). They always seem to hang off in one or the other direction ...

Rain covers included (safely stored behind a zipper, permanently fastened with an elastic strap).

Can you elaborate or take a picture on how these fasten to the bike? In the picture above it looks like they just drape over the seat? Sounds very unsafe to me?

No extra bars needed? Available for DSR? Thanks!

Sorry, currently not able to : bike not available for the past month, waiting for it to be repaired (bad battery/BMS/...).

Oh ok, no problem. Could you enlighten us how they stay onto the seat and not slide off?

If the description is anything to go by, the straps go under the seal.

Contents :
- saddlebags with 2 large straps (one rain cover shown ; these are securely stored in a separate pouch, closed with a zipper) ;
- 2 protectors ;
- 6 separate straps ;
- an installation leaflet (so there was a manual after all), unfortunately - for me - without pictures.

May I upload these to the unofficial manual? Thanks.

As far as I am concerned (not being the copyright holder) : absolutely.
Your work is invaluable.

Okay, I added the text and your photo, and paraphrased the installation instructions.

An alternative design is the *Giant* Loop series of bags, they attach to the passenger footpegs and will not droop into the wheel area.

I went with the GIVI Easy range EA101B small bags with 2 times 15 liter capacity. Got them 2nd hand for a song and had only been ridden with once, so practically new.

Made some adjustments and added custom made quick lock straps (15mm wide straps with small mammut clips https://www.ski-outdoor-shop.de/en/products/mammut-dual-adjust-side-squeeze-buckle?sPartner=goe&number=565-2540-00150-0001-1015&gclid=CjwKCAjwqdn1BRBREiwAEbZcR0pZJWo8TtrxSfzW1GJMD6tv3GhT8x-rPqddF7YfyRCYK70Ag5u_mRoCSa4QAvD_BwE (https://www.ski-outdoor-shop.de/en/products/mammut-dual-adjust-side-squeeze-buckle?sPartner=goe&number=565-2540-00150-0001-1015&gclid=CjwKCAjwqdn1BRBREiwAEbZcR0pZJWo8TtrxSfzW1GJMD6tv3GhT8x-rPqddF7YfyRCYK70Ag5u_mRoCSa4QAvD_BwE)) that hook to the pillion peg guards and behind the taillight. 1 front velcro strap under the seat and 1 rear above the seat, and 1 quick lock strap under the tail. I shortened the velcro straps the bags came with as these where waaaay to long.

Getting them on and off is a 5 min deal as long as you know what your are doing and know the optimal order of things to fasten :)

Just back from a shakedown trip with fully loaded bags. All seems fine. Quite happy with the result for a morning at the sewing machine :)
