Title: Help, some SoC (%) Values are never displayed (from 82% to 80%)
Post by: KuRi on December 01, 2020, 03:32:50 PM
Hi!

I have noticed that my DSR 2020 is not showing some SoC Values in the display. It jumps from 85 to 83 and from 82 to 80. I also noticed that when at 80% and after some small regen it jumped back to 82%.

Is this normal? Something to worry about? Should I discharge the battery almost completely to force a re-balance? The logs don't show any problem and I am not noticing a decrease in total battery life.

P.D: I have checked some old logs and those values are there (81% and 84%) so this behaviour is new.
P.D2: I have just checked more recent log, and all values are there. It is just the display is not showing them... round error?

Thanks!
Regards,
Luis.

round error:

81 - 61 - 41 - 21 - 1 are never shown.

Has been a topic before.

Thanks! I did not know that :D

But today the 84% did not show either :)

Do you have the latest 31 and 38 firmwares? I noticed these changed the way the SOC is calculated. They say in the release notes these firmwares have more accurate soc in extreme temps. Here is is arround 0 deg celsius and the SOC is slightly different on my morning commutes. Stays higher longer to drop faster in the end.

Anyway the number I posted before are never shown on any S DS platform bike. •mine shows 84% so maybe you just missed it or the new firmware is calibrating itself.

Hi! No, I did not install the latest firmware yet (dont repair it if it is not broken :D).

Thank you very much, very userful information there!

My 2014 S with PT used to do that.  However my 2018 S with PT does not have an SOC display that jumps around. It is very stable. It also has no problem showing odd numbers.  :)  Needless to say I have no idea what is going on with Zero's SOC calculations.  ???

I know one theory is that those 5 missing  SOC numbers is what gives your "reserve tank" at zero SOC.  IOW, Zero SOC is really 5 SOC.

Could be. That makes as much sense as any other idea.  ???

Remember, the SoC is a balance between the current voltage (which varies by current draw), the current battery temperature, and some magic of previous charge cycles.  So it can jump around a bit.
