Title: 2012 models for Australia -- need your feedback
Post by: manlytom on March 28, 2012, 04:50:29 AM
Hi all from Australia !

at this stage there are no plans to bring in 2012 models and beyond. Please contact me if you are from OZ and interested in 2012 model bikes. If we get enough together it might help to state our case.

Why not go for a modern "crowd sourcing" approach with a modern motorbike. The traditional channels seem not to work well.

cheers
Tom

I am Interested in 2012 models for Australia , and any links to other forums that discuss the Australian Zero bikes.

Is this from Zero Australia they wont be selling 2012 models, that are so much better than previous models?
does not give me much confidence in the brand and support.
Where you get this information?

I would be expecting them to be pushing the latest models as they are better spec'd and getting great reviews and sales in the USA

If you live in Australia and are interested in purchasing a Zero Motorcycle, please email me with the bike you are interested in purchasing and where you would like the bike delivered.  My email address is harlan at hollywoodelectrics.com.  We've shipped bikes to Australia in the past, I'm sure if enough people are interested I can get all the bikes there at a reasonable cost.

hi all Zero Oz riders. are we going to join the egrandprix down under ? We will not be the fastest but we will just make these couple of laps no sweat. its just 7 laps here and two special bikes for the race - so we all turn up and just have some fun. how about it ?

There is a interesting article in Australian Motorcycle News May 2012 Vol61 No22 p62-66

Interviewing Karl Wharton who was instrumental in Triumph re-launch and worked as Managing Director/CEO for 17 years now works as Chief Operating Officer and under his direction Zero has transforms itself into a mainstream motorcycle manufacturer with a dedicated dealer network. Also the development team is headed by former Buell technical boss Abe Askenazi has dramatically extened both range and performance of its 2012 range.

Article is mainly about zero history and investments of venture capital and interviewing about Karl Wharton's career etc and his plan is to concentrate on setting up dealer network in USA and next Europe mainly UK and Germany, and also Switzerland where electric vehicle have very friendly legislation.

below is quoted from article

"How about Australia?"

"We have to be careful we don't spread ourselves too thin in the early days, since then you wont get the penetration that you need to in the key markets. But Australia is definitely somewhere we have our eye on - its in transition stage at the moment, and we're talking to two or three people to move it again to a more tradition dealer model within Australia. I'm hopeful we'll have something in place there soon."

Well I am impressed to see these people leading zero to improve the bike and it marketing. like others have said pre 2012 were prototypes. I definitely has encouraged me to continue with purchasing a zero as my next bike.

I just read Building the Future – Zero Motorcycles' Karl Wharton (http://cyclenews.coverleaf.com/cyclenews/20120501#pg66) which is pretty much same as AMN but without the question about Australia. Even the same photos.
