Title: experience with the Zero MX or X 2012 - pls share
Post by: manlytom on April 01, 2012, 05:02:13 PM
Hi all

according to the 2012 specs the MX and X are:
Fueled by a Z-Force™ lithium ion power pack and now featuring the same performance motor as the Zero MX, the Zero X delivers incredible torque from zero RPM. This is made possible by the powertrain’s ability to efficiently dump an incredibly high amount of power as soon as you twist the throttle.

So does this mean they are not as tame as the DS or S on takeoff ? More fun to ride off the line ? With the MX being street legal and for shorter runs it might be just the fun bike to have.

if anyone wants to share their experience --- pls do so

T

Just going by the specs from Zero's website. They should be a bit quicker, they are 85-100 lbs lighter than the ZF6 S/DS, and have different motors than the S/DS. The X/MX motors are brushed and will require some maintenance. The X comes road legal, the MX is not and I do not know if they have the light kit for 2012 to make it road legal. If your area allows you to register off-road bikes for road use then that last point is irrelevant. Top speed for the X/MX is quite a bit lower than the S/DS, but for short city runs it should'nt matter. For city hooliganism I personally think the X/MX would be the appropriate tool, but not for extra-urban/hwy commutes etc.
