Title: DIY Lowering the zero seat by 2 inchs
Post by: Doctorbass on July 09, 2012, 02:04:38 AM
Before spending 300+ $ for a lower version seat and being not able to use the brand new original seat of my zero that is too high for me, i prefered to lower it at a cost of few dollars.

I know i could have done that job by myself but i did not wanted to risk some irreparable mistake so i asked some prefessional guys that are specialist in that kind of job

It cost me 40$ total and i got my seat a perfectly reworked!!!

The just removed the cover, cut the foam and sand it to have smooth surfaces and reinstall the cover.

The difference in confort is minimal and the difference of stability when standing on the motorcycle with my foot on the ground is really interesting!

here is some pictures i took for you to show the comparison between BEFORE and AFTER:

I can say it really worth trying it!!! I got 2 inch lower

Nice job Doctorbass. That looks a lot like what you get with a $300 Corbin low seat.

hi

good way to lower the seat. I forked otu the premium for the Corbin to now be back on the standard seat for a change ... anyway, I can change as I feel like it and on the 2011S the height is not an issue as much.

on one of the shots I can see an RS232 (or so) connector dangling -- is that one wired into the Alltrax controller or the bikes main computer ?

Yes, The RS-232 you see  is an extention cable that connect to the Alltrax.. I was tired of dissasssembling a part of the bottom of the frame to be able to reprogram the Alltrax when i wanted to.
