The dealer and I went searching for the OBDii port on my MY12 9DS today to do the motor controller firmware update. In the process, I pulled the cover on the high current charging connector on the right, rear, upper portion of the battery pack.
Can someone shine some light on a few questions?
Are the two smaller contacts for temperature sense or some sort of data link to the on board balance/protection board?
Do you have to buy a charger from Zero or is it a standard item?
How fast can you charge through this port?
What experience have you had working with this port?

The two small holes are for teh BMS to enable the chargers. The port can handle up to 2 Delta Q chargers. The circuit can handle up to 30 Amps although 2 chargers at 12 amps each are 24 Amps. You need to get the splitter Y cable from zero to use more than 1 charger from this port. The kits are $399 each from zero's website.

Being an engineer type, I am a bit curious about the chargers. Are they constantant current followed by constant voltage normal type Li chargers? Is there anyone out there that makes a 36 Amp single piece stand alone chager (perhaps 220V) that could be mounted in my garage?

Yes constant current output, so input current and wattage rise as the batteries on the bike charge.
When the bike is low on charge, each charger pulls under 700 watts. i.e. you can run 2 on a siingle 15A 120v outlet.
But it will eventually trip the breaker as it will go as hih as 960 watts each (2 = 1820 watts) and although the outlet should handle a hairdryer at 1875 watts, I haven't found an outlet that will do it for long duration and complete a full charge unless it's a 20A outlet.
Single unit, variable input voltage, power factor corrected, high efficiency chargers. You may see some similarities to the Delta Q, lol.

Offthegrid, I thought you had 4 chargers. Where does the fourth one plug in?

There is an identical port on the back of the battery box behind the motor controller that the stock charger plugs in to. If you unplug that and add a "Y" cable you can plug a second plug into that also. That circuit also allows up to 30A.
