Title: Side Case Recommendations to carry Elcon chargers
Post by: benswing on April 02, 2015, 05:33:54 AM
I just got the Zero side case mounts for my 2014 SR (which I love, btw!) and am looking to put my Elcon 2500W chargers in side cases.  Any recommendations for cases that work with the mounting system sold by Zero?

Here are the two that I'm looking at right now, but let me know if there are others:

The Givi V35 side cases look like they'll do the job, but I'm curious if there is another solution.

Givi E41 Keyless saddlebags.  They have an extra opening that I think would be handy while charging.

I have a e41 set, ... They are huge ... They might feel out of place on your bike. I used them on a ninja 250 for a couple years.

Ben,

I have the SW-MOTECH 37L side cases. No they don't look as great as other options but they are certainly functional. I have the QR mounts so you can take them on and off in about 15 seconds or so. I also have the 45L boxes which work really well for major grocery trips. There is plenty of room in the 37L cases for a NEMA 14-50 adapter and cable and other power cords.

Thanks guys, after looking around, I plan to go with the Givi V35 side cases.  Looks like the Elcons will fit upright at the bottom.

Ive been thinking about this too and found some travel cases today that might work. Designed for audi equipment and in this case, the right size for DeltaQ with a bit to spare. Im a  complete tightarse and just can't abide the idea of paying $400 for a plastic case that is moulded for $20 or less. These are around $90 retail and interestingly, because they open at both ends, you could theoretically open the bottom hatch to plug in, top cover in place in case of rain. Being rack mount internals, pretty easy to make up adjustable mounts for all sorts of charging stuff. Mounting them will take some thought but not too hard

Those rack mount cases are very interesting. 2RU & 3RU suitcase type may be suitable too.

The Givi V35 side cases didn't fit with the side racks made by Zero.  So it's back to the drawing board.  It appears that the Trekker cases will work, but I've spent enough money for now.

The new plan is to make mounting plates and attach the chargers that way (the same way I did on my 2012, but with thicker metal).

Thanks for the links!

I have these cases, too, and my DS is coming this week. I ordered the Side Case Rack Kit and adaptors for the SW motoch cases. Is there a QR side case rack for the Zero, too?
