Title: zero 2010 info search
Post by: stefg on February 15, 2016, 09:05:14 PM
I been looking at electric bike for a while and I finally jumped in and got a deal on a Zero 2010 DS.
I been doing all sort of motorcycle mechanic for over 30 years now, already, and doing trouble shooting on electric commercial appliance.  My knowledge is pretty good and I really enjoy sharing my knowledge and learning as well.

Any interesting informations you guys can share with me will be appreciate.
Anyone can help me find a shop Manual for this model please?
I am trying to find what mean r5 in the odometer at time of switching the key on??? Bike does not seems to take charge either at the moment???

Thanks in advance for you help.  I forgot to mention I am living in the easter Canada cold country :)

Has it been ridden past years? Putting a barely charged bike away in the Canadian cold for years is not so good for the battery.

That 2010 Zero ought to keep you occupied throughout the winter.   ;)  You are really going to have to dig through the early days of this forum to find much information regarding the early Zeros.  They really didn't sell all that many of those models.  But they might become a historical museum piece one day.  ;)

Bike as been last ride in early december in California :)   It than been transported to east coast and not been charged since.  If any shop manual is available on the net I would be very handy to get some spect.

Start by reading the manual found here: http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/owner-resources/ (http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/owner-resources/) It shows the bms and other fault codes. It wouldn't hunt to check the pack voltage at the plug either.

I believe the r5 at start screen is just the revision # for the read out. To my knowledge it has no diagnostic value.

That's my understanding as well. It was R7 on my 2012, I recall.
