Title: 2016 Zero DSR - Motor Temp Test, Freeway Speeds (video inside)
Post by: pinaero on August 31, 2016, 05:54:22 AM
Gents,

I just wanted to post this here for anyone who might find it useful. The video is a bit long, but I felt compelled to have it "uncut" to show true measure of the temps along the ride. I don't expect any of you to sit through it all so, if you are compelled to skim the video, the 33 minute mark is where you can find the "happy place."

Thanks for viewing and as always, hope you enjoy the video

Cheers,

Nice. I've had sustained top-speed runs on my DSR on 90F ambient temperature days and not been able to get a warning light yet. But I do use the windscreen to cut my drag a bit, which lowers the work the motor is doing... anyway, probably at temperatures below 110F, the IPM motor operates about as fine as one could ask for.

The highest temperature I have ever seen on my 2014 Zero S is 185 degrees while riding a 70 mph in an ambient temperature of 90 degrees.  Most of the time the motor temperature ranges between 130 and 165 degrees.
