Title: Commercial Bike Motor Manufacturers
Post by: trojantriathlete on November 17, 2009, 10:42:56 PM
Hi all,

Do commercial bike manufacturers like Brammo or Zero use their own motors or third party components?

If they do use third party parts, whose motors are they using?

Zero is 3rd party a mix for the X and MX. Unknwon what motor is used for the Zero S but seems Zero has to go back and add cooling to it, or change it.

As for Brammo's I'm unsure.

From what I've seen on the bikes (personally), Perm makes the motors for Zero AND Brammo.

Zero is a brushed PMG 132 on their 2008 models. Not sure if that is on the current models.

Brammo uses a brushless motor from Perm, aircooled, not sure how many Kw. They used a larger watercooled Perm on their TTXGP bike. Pretty nice looking motor.
