is it just me or is the choice of the key for the Zeros quite a bit disproportional? ::)
It feels like a cheap mailbox key.
Every time I ride, I think the same thing and that is "Size Matters".
Tomorrow, I'll try to get a man key made ;D
Well, one that actually speaks wow Zero, sleek design, this is THE key for the machine of the future.
Did anybody try to make a copy with a different beefier head?
Sorry, I didn't search the forum for an existing thread.

Yeah, this old thread covers what key it is:

And the wiki has an entry:

Oops.... thank you Brian. Shame on me for having been lazy.
I'll check it out tonight.

No worries. Show us what kind of copy you manage to make, in case others want something with a more substantial fob.

I checked the link, but it was mostly about the keyless options.
It didn't express concerns that our keys are feeling like mailbox keys.
I don't mind putting a key in turn and be on my way.
One less system to worry about breaking.
I haven't found time this week to go to the locksmith, but will do as soon as possible.
Unfortunately I have this bad feeling that nobody has a good blank.
I made new ones for my Suzuki GS-500 and they came with a proper head.
I wish me luck.

Anybody know the part number for the MY17 tank lid lock or an equivalent that I could get with the proper keying? I retrofit the lid onto my MY16 bike, goal is to get a lock that matches the ignition so it's the same key. I have the 4 digit number for my original keys.
Also not afraid to ask a locksmith to do some custom work for me, but want a starting point.

So I bought two Zadi blank keys for about $5 total, with plans to get copies of my '14SR ignition key cut at Ace Hardware... They inform me that they can't/won't cut keys for which they don't provide the blank. The locksmith they recommended said "$50 to cut them". Any better ideas? I mean I own a Dremel tool, and will try that before dropping fifty bucks. No, I don't have the code. Argh. :(

Find another locksmith. Shouldn't cost more than $10 per key especially as you're providing the blanks, it's a quick and easy job and there's nothing special about the keys that they wouldn't work in a regular duplicator. I wouldn't go at it with a Dremel as you'll probably ruin the original, use a file instead.

I have a 2018 S, and if that key reminds you of a mailbox key you must have some BEEFY mailbox where you live... This key isn't any different from any other motorcycle key I have.

I have seen these kiosks in Kroger stores, copies any key it says. I haven't tried them but it looks like you just stick the key in and it scans it and then grinds out a new key. I'm not even sure of the price but they are at the front of the stores.
Might be worth a try.
