Title: Electric Jaguar E-Type
Post by: Richard230 on September 08, 2017, 04:04:42 AM
And this one was made by Jag.  Really cool.  8)  No word if there is a plan to make a production model and nothing about a possible price:

"Bespoke" powertrain from Jaguar means it'll be priced out of most peoples' league. And the specs seem lackluster, although 40kWh of battery might keep it light enough for the frame and suspension to handle.

But the classic styling is a great idea, and maybe it'll corner better than a Tesla.

Its very likely to be a one off.

Thanks for this Richard.  This is the car I learned to drive stick shift on.  The 40kWh battery is really more than I would have thought they could get into it as an E Type is quiet small compared to modern cars.
I had (have) a 72 Spitfire and had a 79 that had no engine or transmission that I grabbed some parts off of and resold.  Way back in the early 90's some guy filled one with lead acid batteries and had a power cord that came out the gas cap.  I wish I still had that 79 so I could have a Spitlightning.  The weak little engine in that Spitfire would be much better served by a good electric power train.  That E Type on the other hand had, lets just say,  more power than a 16 year old should ever have on Georgia back roads.

My brother used to own a 1967 BSA Spitfire (motorcycle) and he comments that he hopes that Jaguar doesn't use Lucas (The Prince of Darkness) electrics.   :'(

Damn it.
I was chatting to a JLR engineer at the track day this weekend, I should have asked him about the E-Type...
