Brammo Going After UK Market With GoinGreen

U.S.-based Brammo electric-powered motorcycles will now be distributed in the UK by Green Automotive Company.

Green Automotive Company (GAC) made the announcement January 23, stating its UK subsidiary GoinGreen has signed an exclusive distribution agreement for the UK market with the American electric motorcycle manufacturer Brammo.

Brammo Inc. is described by GAC as a leading electric motorcycle technology company headquartered in North America.

The company designs and develops electric motor bikes including the Enertia and Empulse R and are the 2013 North America, FIM eRR World Cup Champions. Brammo said it is also an OEM supplier of its Brammo Digital Drivetrain systems including the Brammo Power battery pack and Brammo Power vehicle management system.

“Sales of e-scooters and e-motorcycles have shown consistent growth over the last few years,” said Ian Hobday, CEO of Green Automotive. “Pike Research forecasts that annual sales of e-motorcycles and e-scooters will reach 18.6 million by 2018 worldwide. GoinGreen will be the only ones selling the stylish electric motorcycle in the UK. We strongly believe that thanks to our EV experience, we are able to replicate the success Brammo is encountering in the US market.”

GoinGreen has started to enlarge its product portfolio in 2013 by launching the electric urban city car, the Mia, a range of electric commercial vehicles as well as electric bicycles. With the addition of the Brammo electric motorcycle, GoinGreen said it is strengthening further its product offer and follows its strategy to become the one-stop shop for all electric transport solutions.

“GoinGreen has a commitment to excellent customer service, which will be greatly appreciated by everyone in the UK who rides a Brammo electric motorcycle,” said Craig Bramscher, CEO and Founder of Brammo. “We are delighted to be joining forces with GoinGreen and look forward to a long and successful partnership.”

Seems to me that by going with only the one dealer, Brammo are testing the UK market here.

From my personal experience I don't think the UK public are ready for or seriously interested in electric bikes now. They are still too obsessed with sports bikes and adventure bikes that they may or may not think about possibly maybe touring on in the future perhaps.

I imagine you have encountered the same thing Justin.

Hopefully, they will have better luck than Zero did in the UK market.

Bascially, although I've not encountered much hostility either.
A few serious die hard bikers have tried my ZF9 and all of them enjoyed it, and most bikers I've encountered have been curious and quite positive about the bike.

I think the real problem is a deep seated conservatism, that and bikes are seen as a weekend toy for the most part.
So, that and the Jeremy Clarkson style numpties, its a hard sell for EV bikes here in the UK.

Which is a pity, because given average travel distances, the UK is a kind of a ideal place for them.

"that and bikes are seen as a weekend toy for the most part". The funny part to me is that my interest is to make it  a daily driver (when the weather is a little better :D) and use my HondaVTX for weekend road trips

Yep, my bike is my primary transport. So I don't get the weekend rider thing.
It does mean however that I generally have fairly high expectations of the bikes I own.
