Need help fixing my SRF charge tank install (fixed thanks!)
« on: January 09, 2021, 02:39:57 AM »

Anyone who has an overview picture of the charge tank? To help me show how routing should be done. Especially the orange wrapped wires and black charge inlets. Preferably an EU type2. Only tank cover to be removed.

The story behind this question ;

I had mine installed today and noticed the tank cover was pinching some wires. So I took tank cover off to see if I could fix it.

Some bolts were swapped, one cross threaded and some were missing. Plus some frame damage :-?.

But I couldn't get the wires to fit and then I noticed the stickers on the charger were upside down. So I grabbed the af1racing manual and indeed it.s mounted I upside down...

I have it swapped now but could need use some visual help on the wire routing. Thanks in advance!

Got help from Remmie. Massive thanks!

Just some quick before and after picks. I.ll go to sleep and let this sink in before reacting in more detail. Rather frustrating this way.

This video also helped a bit. But it.s rather quick and low res.

Installation is quite a lot more work than I'd have expected. In my mind it was always "open the storage hatch and stick it in." :)

I also wouldn't have thought the 240V cables would be giant orange ones, as opposed to just the HVDC.

Dear god... I understand if you don’t want to disclose the dealer that installed it wrong but somehow I was afraid of this when seeing you would upgrade. I have so little faith in the dealers here in Belgium. :((

Maybe as a warning for prospective buyers?

So sad... :(

They charged 3 hours. I gave them 4 hours time and it eventually took them 4h30m to give me my bike back. Not a single word about scratched up frame, missing bolts or other mishaps. I understand errors happen (I'm a developer) but this is not how you deal with customers.

It was in Heverlee. That's probably enough to pinpoint which. My original zero dealer never gave me a quote despite me asking IRL and on email several times. Kind a hard doing business that way I reckon. They did however help me with the water infiltration errors.

This dealer and zero are informed with full description, including pictures. I tried calling them first but only get voicemail. Still need to try if it even works!? Hopefully none of the missing bolts were dropped in the battery 😭.

Yeah I had a hunch it would be one of those two :(.
Succes dealing with Zero and the dealer. Could go either way. Zero is very specific about these things. Almost to a fault.

Can you post a close up of the frame damage?

These are some closeups. It doesn't really show that well on the pictures due to the lighting I guess but it's bare metal that is visible on that spot.

Just got worse. I've now tried charging and the lock mechanism was in place so couldn't even enter the charge pistol. Back home I checked under the cover and there is this red physical toggle that was stuck on the new wires. So fixed that now. I can at least charge at home again at 2.4kW...

And before going on the road to attempt charging at 12 kW I thought it was best to do some more checks. Config read out shows the 6kW charger is not even activated :-$.

My setup : I have a premium with 6kW rapid charger so all chargers installed

The configuration (see below) shows both 3kW chargers installed and the 6kW charger as not installed. However it is working fine and has been since the install in oktober 2019.
it also shows the heated grips as not detected but they work fine. Seems the config is not that important for normal working.

Hans, I suggest you just try to see if it charges with 12kW. chances are good it will function correctly. I assume the MBB reads the PWM signal from the charging station by the PWM signal. Then just sends that detected maximum input current to all chargers.
Ans as in Europe they are all on separate phases this works fine.

Oh good to know. It wasn't throwing any errors on my 220V adapter charging at 2.4kW so might indeed just work. I'll make a test ride tomorrow to the nearest charger. If the weather allows for it... Literally the temperature I mean... I'll report back what happens.

Today I arrived at the charger reading -2C on the dash. I had the charge lock engaged all the time so couldn't connect to the charger. It would've likely refused to charge due to temp constraints anyway.

I also learned that in cold weather if you key the bike on it needs a minute to heat up that 12V battery before you can even ride. I've ridden in lower temps before but always from garage to garage. Then it's not an issue.

So I got 6.7 kW from an 11 kW charger. Before that was 5.7 kW so it is doing something
