Mine for the Zero is a 913-9600.

This one might be able to be programed for a zero but this one has 3 different cables coming out of it for who knows what, and a short Anderson cable and I can't tell the color (needs to be dark brown) of the Anderson connection.

Mine is listed as for lead acid as well.
This last one you linked has the wrong connector.  Plus it's in China.

This is what you want.  From the Zero catalog:  Page 20   that connector.

Maybe. He never said which year (or model) his Zero is. The older models use a different QC.

Thx for the replies, if I do a DeltaQ, I'll just do a new one from Zero. Looks like the Elcon 3.3 is fairly plug and play with the $25 anderson adapter and not that much more cost if doing the group buy (and you can actually get one). Why is the Delta Q larger and heavier while only putting out 1/3rd the power? Is the Elcon a better way to go?

To activate the DeltaQ, it takes a 1 CPS signal that comes from the bike on the small pins. But one advantage is that you can use the DeltaQ alone without the OBC as long as the bike is first keyed on to get the signal started. Then the key can be removed, unlike with after market chargers, where the key must stay in to keep the contactor closed, or modified as show here.

Yes, that is no problem at all, to remove the key while to OBC and other chargers are used.


My situation is a little different. J-1772 pilot signal not used in my case, so I adjust my chargers manually to not go over the rating of the charge station. I can charge at 8KW--but not from a 6.6 KW charge station. So I added the switch as shown in my previous message so I can reduce my chargers to 6.6KW by not using the OBC and then take my key out. If you're not going over the charge station rating, you can charge with the key out as long as the OBC is used.


The OBC will close the contactor. So will the key being on. So will my added switch. An external charger without the OBC has no way to close the contactor. If the contactor is open, there is no way to charge.


The DeltaQ's are a bit different with their 1 CPS signal. With it, you can turn the key on for just a second so the contactor closes and then you can remove the key as that 1 CPS signal is used to keep the contactor closed. Any other type of external charger will require the OBC or another method to close the contactor, such as leaving the key on, or use the switch I mentioned in the link in my previous message.

This is absolutely right. Depending on your chargers, this can be annoying. Some will raise or lower available rates based on local grid performance. Some chargepoints or dual cable units will halve available power if someone connects to your unit. Someone did design a charge controller for the elcons that fixes some of this, can't seem to find it right now.

The J-1772 stations that split the load are difficult to find these days. At least that has been my experience here in Auburn as well as in Reno and other places I have been to in the last couple of years. The last one I used that did split was at a college campus in Grass Valley, CA three years ago.  I do not know if they have been upgraded, I have not been back there.

Every J1772 ChargePoint (the most common J  here and in Reno) I have seen lately has two plugs and the screen says "6.6 KW per PLUG". So I often use both plugs to charge my SR at 8KW with no issues. I plan on doing such on the way back to Reno  tomorrow, I will recharge at Cisco Grove. I am riding my SR back to Reno in the morning.

And many of the non-ChargePoints I see can do more,  such as the J-1772 at Virginia City which is rated at 40 amps or 9.6KW. Ironically, the Tesla Destination charge station  right next to it can only do 8KW.

There could be many older J charge stations  out there that can only do 3.3 KW or so if both ports are being used. But I think most of them have been upgraded. And I doubt if ANY new J-plug would so such.

BTW, if I do need to reduce the load, it can take less time. It could mean I only set up one external charger instead of two. So far, I have not had to do such, I have been charging at 8KW everywhere lately. But tomorrow, if  only one of two ports are available (unlikely), because a car is on the other, I will still charge at 6.6 KW, by not using my OBC. About two seconds work. I have to flick a switch and key on and key off, which is about the same  trouble and time saved by not plugging in the OBC. 

If both ports are being used (extremely unlikely) I will go to Truckee to recharge. Plenty of places to charge with J-1772 on the way, but even more places have CCS between here and Reno.

But in Reno, that reverses. More J-1772 than CCS, by far.
