I'm looking for some new brake pads because the stocks are just terrible. I'm finding most sites (Revzilla and Amazon and Brembo) don't even list the Zero brand when selecting brand specific brake parts. The zero wiki doesn't seem to list the brake models for the 2021 SR.

Side question. It seems common knowledge that the stock brakes blow. What types do people run and which brands?

The only complaint I had about the stock pads was the annoying SQUEAL.  Since I don't ride aggressively or on the track, I switched to EBC organic pads.  I love them, no noise and good feedback.  I suspect if I attacked the twisties at 8/10 or higher they'd probably fade but that's not the way I ride.  I bought the bike for commuting, running errands, and quiet rides along the shoreline.

Now +3. Those brake pads you told me about are working great on my SR. No more squeak ever. Before the pad change, the squeak  could be heard from around a quarter mile away. Now, no trace of it.


For whatever reason, my DS doesn't squeak at all with the stock Zero pads.

Do you have a part number for the EBC? I don't see them listed on AF1.

That's where I'm buying mine. Though I found sintered. Why would anyone get non-sintered when they cost the same? I guess I need to research motorcycle brake pads.

"Sintered" generally means semi-metallic which is what the OEM pads are.  MOST people don't really need sintered pads.  Unless you ride aggressively most of the time, the pads and rotors can glaze resulting in that ear-splitting squeal everyone complains about.  Sintered pads may last a little longer than organic but also wear out the rotor faster.

Organic pads may not last as long as sintered but are easier on the rotor.  As anyone has probably noticed, replacing a rotor is a much bigger deal than replacing a set of pads.  Organic pads will fade more quickly under repeated hard use (such as racing or doing a track day).

EVERYTHING is a trade-off.  There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

My FX rotor wore out in the same time that it took for the original organic front brake pads to wear out.
