Can we charge the LW on opened up Tesla SCs?
« on: February 05, 2023, 01:39:28 PM »

Hi all,
as mentioned in my questions abotu better AC charging options we have now a bunch of great Tesla superchargers opened up to non Teslas in Australia. Has this happened anywhere else, and if so, has anyone charged their LW successfully?
Reason I am asking, the opened Tesla SCs are fairly remote for us and if they do not charge the LW, you r fxxxked.
anyone any experience?
I guess the Tesla tech and settings will be pretty much standard around the world. Just not sure if they like us bikers plugging in....

I’m in the US, so don’t have experience using them - but Tesla opened it up to non Tesla vehicles in 2-3 countries in Europe and a few LW owners have used them

they make adapter plugs you can plug in on your car / charger to convert from one format to the other etc, can you possibly use one of these to make your vehicle work with this charger, even though it was not originally designed to?

Even if you had an adapter, the SuperCharger network operates on VINs which can't be spoofed. If you're not a Tesla, you ain't usin' it. At least for now in North America.

Tesla has opened up a number of SCs to non Teslas and they work well with the Livewire. Had a problem with one, but after moving to another stall (another A/B) it worked just fine. In fact charges faster than other DC FCs.
In Australia stat of NSW has opened up some more awesome country side rides.

What KW charge rate are LWs getting on the Magic Dock?

With my 2023 Energica Experica, I could only get 8KW from the Tesla Magic Dock. I can get three times that charge speed (24KW) at normal CCS stations. But at least it works.

My Avatar here shows the bike charging at the Tesla Supercharger in Placerville, CA.
