Vectrix is stll around
« on: November 06, 2013, 09:40:02 PM »

It looks like Vectrix is still around (at least in Europe) and has introduced an updated model of their electric scooter at the EICMA show.  This version has cool removable batteries.  See more here:  http://news.motorbiker.org/blogs.nsf/dx/eicma-2013-vectrix-electric-scooter-vt-1.htm

They did a good job on the Vectrix. I spoke with one the Brammo engineers at the Sear's Point races a couple of years ago - he used to work for Vectrix. He told me that they OVER engineered the Vectrix - the only weakness was the original NiMH battery pack. Now they're using Li-ion.

I still have my 2007 Vectrix - I upgraded to Li-ion a couple of years ago - the thing runs better than new. I took it and my Zero out for a spin a couple of weeks ago (oh, and the old-school gas-powered bike too):

Vectrix is essentially NOT AROUND. After over 40 e-mails going back and forth between Vectrix and me in 2013, my VX-1 Li+ bike has still been out of commission and waiting for a new battery under the new vehicle warranty which was still in effect when my bike died in January 2013. My latest correspondence resulted in very bad news - shareholders have stopped all business and the company is presently on an abbreviated staff. Still no battery. I have now a bike that is completely worthless that I paid 8 grand for and traded-in my older Vectrix in June 2011. It looks to me the company is again going belly-up, so I have no choice but to initiate a lawsuit against Vectrix in my California County Superior Court. I don't expect Vectrix to even make a showing in Court, so all I really expect is at least a judgement I can get some tax relief on. :-[

I am really sorry to hear about Vectrix, Firstclasskook. (I do like that handle.)  Vectrix had a well designed scooter in my opinion, but they just needed a better financed and managed business plan. I really feel sorry for the shareholders, too.  I wish you the best of luck with your lawsuit.

Bummer about your situation, firstclasskook.  I really liked my 2007 Vectrix and thought they did a great job on a lot of details, but that battery was a weakness.

If you want the latest on the Vectrix situation, then read the thread on below link. It also contains comments from former Vectrix employees.
