Owned scooters prior, though got my training/endorsement on a 250cc. Trainer was a gruff Boeing flight instructor who called me scooter girl. Fun times. :)

Looks like I still have the oldest age (of those who have replied in this topic) owner category @ 77.

No surprise. The bikes are where the dealers are and it will become more that way with time. I predict there will be several Empulse owners from Oregon too. There are still a few knowledgeable people, like Doc for example, who aren't so concerned about a dealer being close, but those people are a small minority. If you want to sell a $15,000+ bike, you have to have dealers. That is why I think Brammo, with almost no dealers listed, is going to have a very rough couple of years. Some people might buy a $1,000 scooter and have it drop shipped, but almost nobody is going to pay 15-20 times that amount without local support.

Agree on the importance of the dealer network. I expect dealers dropped or avoided Brammo due to two major blunders:

1. Signed up a low margin electronics retailer BestBuy as a distributor to sell Impulse. Low margin distributors can't afford to do demos or train sales on the product. Dealers hate to spend time and resources to sell product only to have the prospect buy from a discounter.

2. Failure to deliver product on time and on spec. This is a red flag for dealers.  No company that does this will ever earn the trust of dealers. It's another reason for my bet on Brammo's eventual demise.

No Zero dealers anywhere near me in 2011 so I whipped out a credit card and bought an S off the web site. Came in a crate. Rolled it off, plugged in two fuses, and enjoyed a year of happy riding before upgrading to a 2012.

Bought my 2012 S from a dealer 1 hour away. Wish they were closer but that's not too bad.

Brammo stopped distributing the Enertia through Best Buy a year or two ago.

I suspect they will tap the Polaris dealer network to sell the Empulse - eventually. The Empulse R is more likely to be direct sales.

I bought my S through Hollywood Electrics (and after a store visit and a ride on a 2011), but it shipped to me in a cardboard crate direct from Zero.
