Delta-Q ic650 charger for the 2013 Zeros? Edit: Nope.
« on: November 06, 2012, 04:11:00 AM »

Delta-Q has a new charger .. they show a picture of a 2013 Zero on their applications page, so I assume this is what Zero uses for the 2013 bikes. Denied by Hollywood Electrics, see below.

http://www.delta-q.com/product/ic650-charger/

The listed specs indicate a maximum nominal voltage of 48V and a maximum DC output voltage of 72V. I guess Zero has a custom spin supporting up to 96V nominal / 144V maximum.

IP66 rating, aircooled with exposed heatsink fins like the < 2013 QuiQ chargers. Assuming the S / DS use dual chargers, combined the two IC650 chargers (~1.3 kW) weigh less and take up less room than a single 1 kW QuiQ.

A small improvement, but a nice one. The stock system pretty much maxes out US level 1 charging capacity. It would be nice to see an option for chaining chargers together for faster J1772 charging - each charger consumes 2.9A on J1772, so a set of 10 chargers would max out a 30A J1772 supply.

As far as I saw (not know), the new 2013 models do not have (unfortunately) DeltaQ chargers...I could not see the new brand on the bikes though.
The new battery packs run at 102V with Sevcon Gen4 size 4-420A and size 2-250A (XU) cnotrollers

It did not look like the ic650?

In the recent Scot Harden interview he mentions that all the bikes can use a x2 charger.. guess that's 1.3 kW total for the small bikes and 2.6 kW total (2 circuits) for the S / DS.

Not in the models I saw/rode (I did not ask if the additional chargers were DeltaQ, but I think I heard they were not).
The 2013 S line will get a 1.3Kw onboard charger  -do not know the brand though.
It is a shame...
