This article is interesting because it quotes H-D's President as saying that the LiveWire needs double the battery capacity and would have to sell for half the $50,000 price that it would cost to produce it before customers would buy it.

FYI at the bottom of the Journal-Sentinel Article: "Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly reported that the electric motorcycle would sell for about $50,000 if it were being mass-produced. Harley-Davidson has never put a potential price on its new cycle."​

Considering the quality of the LiveWire, I could believe that it would cost $50K to manufacture and also make a profit for H-D and their dealers.  I  could also imagine that one of the H-D engineers said something they were not supposed to when being interviewed and the statement has since been retracted by H-D.

I recall reading the original article with the statement about $50,000.  It was in a paragraph with a lot of quoted statements, but the $50k part was not in quotes.  I thought that was suspicious so it didn't surprise me when they made the correction.

However, the dozen articles and blog posts quoting that original article have not been fixed or corrected.  Whatever, not a big deal anyway.
