Is a DS convertible to a SR specs bike?
« on: May 06, 2015, 03:23:12 AM »

I compared the DS specs with the SR specs and it seems that only the controller is different. There is a difference in the drive train ratio, too, but that's not a big deal.
So could it be possible to convert a DS into a SR specs bike by replacing just the controller?

If it is, Harlan at Hollywood Electrics is the man to do it!

Assuming he hasn't already, of course.

Hmm, Harlan is located in the USA, I live in the Netherlands ;)
There are several EV specialists here, so the technical work shouldn't be a problem.

Think there are 2 options, replace 420A controller with 660A contyroller. The other option is to add a second 420A controller. (840A  ;D)
Remember seeing someone planning to do this in a thread.

Harlan may even have leftover 420A controllers for sale.

The major SR differences are tires, higher temp motor magnets, and the larger motor controller. The default suspension setup might be a little more aggressive, and it's possible there might be a couple other differences in software.

I asked Zero the same question and got this answer:

"Essentially both the Sevcon controller and the motor are different.  The Sevcon controller is a Size 6. The ZF75-7 R motor on the SR has higher temperature magnets."
