Modifying controller setup without spending a fortune on cables?
« on: September 12, 2016, 11:22:53 PM »

Hey, I'd like to tune my 2016 Zero SR controller settings (throttle curve and more regen if possible), but I'm wondering, is a $400 IXXAT CAN->USB adapter really needed? Do they contain any proprietary components? Would something like this chip not get the job done?

So far, the answer seems to be yes, and 2016 bikes with IPM motors are rumored to have custom Sevcon programming which means we should act gingerly with any DVT usage. I'm tempted to buy a full DVT license but know that I will still not have dealer access to firmware mods.

Hopefully this means that the basic settings are still adjustable, or that if a dealer prepares settings for my bike, that I can restore the settings file without say messing with the calibration. Still trying to figure that out...
