Support for a 2013 model
« on: November 14, 2016, 10:37:48 PM »

Hey everyone, I may purchase a 2013 FX. I wanted to see if there is still decent support for a 2013 model from Zero. I hear this bike uses a one-off battery that only works for this bike and the new batteries cannot be used on this bike. if an issue arises with the battery pack, can Zero still service/replace parts for the 2013?

Thank you!

Alex

Someone on here may already know but best to call Zero.  They may help you or they may try to get you to call a dealer but it is worth a try.

What did you decide? I'm on the fence about buying a "new" 2103 XU.

I actually put the deposit down on the 13 fx. Feel like I worked out a pretty fair price. Maybe when I'm ready for a new one the technology will be even better in 2020 and the 2018 models will be on sale so I'll get the hang of the 13 first!

There are a couple of NHTSA recalls on the 2013s that you'll want to check on.  #13V-257 had to do with replacing the power packs (batteries) and #13V-635 had to do with updating the controller firmware.  I'm not sure if they both apply to your FX but they do both apply to the XU I'm looking at.

Thank you that's good info.

I will try to find out when it was manufactured the first one is a smaller range. The second one I guess I just have to be aware of. does zero still take care of this issues if they haven't been taken care of yet on the bike?

I could be wrong but I think since these are  NHTSA safety recalls they have to take care of them.
