Zero Motorcycle Storage
« on: April 17, 2017, 08:42:28 AM »

Hi there,

I recently purchased a 2015 Zero DS motorcycle. Love the bike and although I appreciate it offers a storage area where the gas tank would usually be, it's a soft case design that feels very cheap and looks terrible. I noticed on newer models they've moved to a hard case (good move!). My question - has anyone ever switched out their soft container for a hard one? Or does Zero potentially offer an option to install the hard one in place of the soft one?

Thanks!

You can buy a new tank with the new locking storage from a zero dealer. It will probably cost about $300.  Hollywood Electrics also offers a carbon fiber locking storage kit that is a little less than the Zero tank.

Been researching hours and couldn't find that info:) Thanks so much for shedding light on that. Stoked to find out it's an easy swap. Thanks again!

One thing to keep in mind the new tanks are painted but the old stuff is colored plastic.  If you want them to match you will also want to buy new tail plastic too.  Or you could try to match the color and paint yourself but I think the tail plastic is pretty cheap to just replace when you buy the tank.

Interesting. Thanks for the additional feedback. I'll give my dealer a shout and comment back once I've got the parts ordered.
