Topic: Twice in one ride, DS shut off and restarted? (Read 512 times)

2016 DS, had battery replaced under warranty about a year ago. This morning I went to leave for work, got a couple hundred yards from my house when the bike shut off on me. I had just moved my hand to twist the accelerator when i noticed all the lights along the bottom row of indicators flashing as if I had just turned the bike on. Took two light twists before any movement came back. Decided to ride the rest of the way to work anyway. Got to the parking lot, and as I was turning the bike around to park, it seems like the same thing happened. Below are logs from this ride. Log # 08213 says BMS reset.

Also, looked at error codes while standing the bike up and kickstand up:

25 Contactor Open Warning
44 The kill switch safeguard is active (did not have switch set to run)
48 The Sevcon controller startup failed and the resulting safeguard is active.
49 The contactor is open because of some safeguard (like 25 but not a normal indication).
44 The kill switch safeguard is active (did not have switch set to run)

It looks to me like your ignition or the cable to the ignition is going out. You can see the in the log where it says Power off Key Switch and Power off Key Switch.

Unless you did that.

I did notice that. I was in the middle of riding both instances, so i dont think it was from me. Anyone ever have an instance of the cables that hover above the keys move/touch the keys when turning? who knows. I will contact the dealer about this though, thanks!

Not officially. It has not occurred again since. I dont want to be without my bike for multiple days while a dealer tries to track down a problem, so until it happens again or my bike is bricked due to an ignition cable issue, i'm just gonna ride the heck out of it.
